Soft Landing Stables provides hunter riders with a selection of quality, show-ready horses for lease.  Leases range from $250-$350 per month and includes 2-3 days of riding, use of SLS facilities and amenities (excluding tack), all routine veterinary care (vaccinations, coggins, etc.) and farrier care. 

SLS prefers that riders who lease SLS horses utilize their own tack.  Proper saddle fit, bit size and type, and bridle adjustment can be the source of many behavioral problems stemming from discomfort of poorly fitting tack.  To ensure the safety and comfort of our horses and your safety as the rider, we may ask to check that your tack fits appropriately prior to beginning your lease. 

Tack may also be rented from SLS if needed for $50/mo, based on availability.  Riders are responsible for proper cleaning and care of all SLS tack.

All riders who lease an SLS horse are required to wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet at all times while mounted.  SLS does not offer helmet rentals.

On occasion, horses belonging to SLS boarders may come available for lease.  While we are happy to present these horses for lease on our website, lease fees, inclusions and exclusions are at the sole discretion of the owner.

Please note that SLS strongly encourages all boarders and leasors to seek to enhance their skills.  In order to support an environment of continual growth for both horse and rider, SLS requests that all boarders and leasors engage in a weekly lesson program with our on-site trainer.  Please visit our "Lessons" page for additional information.

Soft Landing's Geronimo:
LEASED

Geronimo, also known as G-Man, is a 17hh tri-color Tobiano TB gelding with plenty of show miles.  Geronimo has taken many championships throughout VA, MD, and PA, including wins at Blue Rock, qualification for local day at the Washington International Horse Show and Gittings finals.  Geronimo is a great horse for instilling confidence in beginners and re-riders.

Soft Landing's The Professional: LEASED

The Professional, also known as Pro, has scores of champion and reserve titles to his name from both rated and unrated shows.

Conner: Available for Lease

Conner is a 13 year old Morgan privately owned by a boarder at SLS. Conner is full of personality and is eager to please. He is best suited for an advanced beginner or intermediate rider who wants to ride on the flat and on trail only (no jumping) and who could preferably keep him in a nice forward frame. Conner has a few months fundamental dressage training on the flat, is great on trails, and is level-headed with a Morgan personality. Very honest and takes care of his rider.

Soft Landing's Dancing Man:
LEASED

Dancing Man, also known as Fred (Astaire), is a 16.1hh warmblood-cross gelding.  His flashy movement and coloring make him an eye-catcher at the shows.

Soft Landing's Markedly:
AVAILABLE FOR LEASE

Markedly, also known as Zack, is a 17hh Oldenburg gelding and a great grandson of Art Deco.  Zack is forward mover with tons of scope.  Zack is best suited for a strong intermediate or advanced rider who can effectively balance him on the flat and help him find his spots to a jump for best performance.
