  Superb hunter horse boarding, hunt seat lesson and horse lease stable close to D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia, Old Town, Capitol Hill and National Harbor.  Soft Landing Stables is a hunter-only barn with rare full-board openings for discerning hunter show riders. Full horse board includes incredible turnout: 25 acres in pasture, large indoor arena with new, Airfoot footing (state of the art,) grass all-weather outdoor ring, oversize stalls, unlimited hay, quality grain, grass year-round. Hunter show riders and trained staff on site to groom your horse. Lessons offered by two trainers: one is a well-known A-circuit professional rider & r-rated hunter judge; the other specializes in pony lessons for children and beginner adults.
We are full at the moment and can only allow onto our waiting list hunter riders who will attend schooling, B and C shows regularly and who will join our friendly, supportive group.

Soft Landing Stables is 17 miles from the U.S. Capitol, 10 miles from Old Town, Alexandria and 7 miles from National Harbor in Maryland.  There are no hunter boarding barns or stables of this quality so close to downtown DC.  We want to hear from hunter show riders who are DC, Md. or Virginia professionals by day, looking for a convenient, top-flight hunter boarding stable where they can easily ride after work or on weekends.  We are building a wait list of people wanting to join our show team of amateur hunter riders to attend schooling, B and C shows with us in Md./Va./Pa.  We provide inexpensive transport to shows and offer weekly lesson packages.

                                                                   Pasture for hunter show horses stays slightly green even in winter because we, A-manage our pastures      carefully, B-Have approx. 2 acres in pasture for every hunter show horse at the barn.  We have plenty of
turnout which is highly unusual for a hunter show stable this close to downtown D.C.

Full board $550/mo including unlimited hay, grain, holding for farrier, holding for dentist, holding for routine vet visits.  Half-leases on made hunter show horses: $250-300/mo. depending on how high horse may be jumped.  Transport to hunter/jumper shows available for cost of gas (to wit, extremely inexpensively.)

  At Soft Landing Stables, we are all about excellence, friendship and bonding with our fabulous hunter show horses.  We offer excellent hunter horse care and excellent instruction.  But we view horse showing as a way to teach ourselves what we need to work on at home---not as serious, life-threatening competition.  We are drama-free and we support each other.
